oxygen

oxygen

Breathing is a sign of life. What are we breathing? We in the breathr. We get oxygen from the air and we must have air all the time.  We must have it when we are awake.

\

We must have it when we are asleep We have read about astronauts going to the moon and we have read about sea divers diving down into the deep seas.  Do you think the astronauts and the sea divers could go up into space or down into the deep seas without oxygen No,  they do need oxygen all the time and everywhere.  They carry it with them in special containers.  We know that there is no air in space nor in the depth of the ocean.  And hence no oxygen.  The astronauts and the sea divers,  therefore,  have to take their supply of oxygen with them.

Human existence depends on oxygen We also need oxygen to burn fire.  The more oxygen that the fire can get,  the brighter it will burn.  Try an experiment.  Blow on a dying fire.  You'll see that it burns more brightly.  The fire burns more brightly because the air gives it more oxygen Sui gas has become very popular these days.  We use it to cook.  We use it to run our factories.  We use it to heat our rooms We have,  however,  to take great care with Sui gas.  If we have a gas room heater in our bedroom,  we must make sure,  before we go to sleep,  that the fire is off and that there is no gas leakage.  Deaths have occurred because of burning of leaking gas at night. Gas heater stays on at night, a fire that we leave no room to breathe oxygen is likely to consume.  The result in such cases is obviously suffocation and hence death.
Sun

Sun

Mrs. Anwer : girls, do you know anything about the big blue roof above us we (Teacher)  call the sky Yes,  it is the sky where we can see the sun in the morning,  the moon(Student)  and the countless stars at night.

Mrs.  Anwar Good!  But let me tell you more about it.  The sky in fact is an empty space all around our earth.  It causes clouds,  rain,  and cool winds.  Sometimes it brings hail and snow storms and sometimes dusty and very hot winds Aisha How far is the sky from us,  Miss?

Mrs.  Anwar It is very far from us.  It is not possible to measure its distance from the earth.  It is so far that its nearest neighbour,  the moon,  is 240,000 miles away.  The sun is surrounded by millions of stars,  planets and galaxies Aisha What are stars,  planets and galaxies,  Miss?

Mrs.  Anwar The stars are a burning matter of gases and have their own light like fireballs.  The sun is also a star.  A planet is a huge,  solid mass.  Some planets are very hot and some are very cold.  All of these are moving round the sun.  These are Mercury,  Venus,  Jupiter,  Saturn,  Uranus, neptune and pluto. Our earth is also a planet. The stars are fixed.
They do not move but the planets move round their axis and also round the sun.  round e Sun are in fact huge clusters containing billions of stars and planets.

Miss!  What are the effects of these moving planets?

Aisha Mrs.  Anwar Earth rotates around its axis, we have day and night movement of the earth around the sun in a year is complete.  This responsible for the change of our seasons,  movement of the earth i.e.  winter,  spring,  summer and autumn.  It is very interesting,  indeed.  Does the moon also move?  And if so Aisha with what result?  circle around the Earth

Mrs.  Anwar Yes the moon too revolves.  It completes in about 29/30 days.  The Islamic calendar is based on our movements.  The study of the stars is called Astronomy.  astronomers like Abdul Haissam,  Bu Ali Sina and other stars from the discovery of several new groups and the use of their name being made in their name.  Arabic.  We can discover new things about planets Modern scientists are trying The first man-made satellite was sent into space by the Russians in 1957.  Its name was sputnik.  It was meant to study changes of climate.  Russians,  the Americans sent their own satellite into Soon after the Russians,  the Americans sent their own satellite into space.  Miss!  Has Pakistan also sent any rocket into space?

Aisha Mrs.  Anwar Yes Pakistan's first rocket was fired at Son-Miani near Karachi in 1972.  Can we go and live on any of these planets?  Aisha

Mrs.  Anwar No,  it is not possible because some of the planets are extremely hot being nearest to the sun.  Mercury,  for example is one such planet.  Some of these planets are extremely cold because they are farther from the sun.  Pluto,  for example,  has no air and water.  Saturn,  Venus,  Jupiter and Mars are also not fit to live.  Then why are we spending so much money on research about these Aisha planets?

Mrs.  Anwar You know that the population of the world is increasing tremendously every day while the resources are not increasing at the same rate.  Scientists and other experts think that one day we may be short of food and other commodities on earth.  So we must explore new worlds with large resources.  Recently,  a spaceship called Shuttle has been sent into space by America.  It is a kind of laboratory.  On the ground, which can not be many difficult experiences about these planets very interesting things I have been saying from space satellite pictures can be.  What are the uses of sending these satellites into space?

Mrs.  Anwar We can watch live programmes of any other country of the world on television.  We can forecast weather and thus tell beforehand Aisha whether it is going to be dry or wet been a informative lecture today.  We have learnt so many new things.  Thank you,  Miss.

AFTER THE LAST BULLETINS CRITICAL APPRECIATION

AFTER THE LAST BULLETINS CRITICAL APPRECIATION

In this poem the poet throws light on the flood of information technology.  That every moment there is something new sensational and crucial but at the very worthless and next moment it becomes something useless hence it is treated as trash The title of the poem is quite suitable and apt because after the last bulletins even the news reporters enjoy the sound sleep quite indifferently.  The subject of the poem is the excess of information in the modern world and the death of substantial knowledge and wisdom in the people.  The attitude of the poet is satiric and ironic as we know despite having a lot of information reports man has no time to i ay heed to it rather modern man seems to be indifferent to the information which is provided to him To the background.  of this poem is the shallowness of modern information and technology Because of the excess of information it has lost its true worth and authenticity After the last bulletins is a thought provoking poem by Richard Wilbur.  The poem deals with an aspect of modern life,  i e,  modern important advancement.  The flood information and technological of information which is devouring the public of the city at every moment of their life soon becomes a wastage.  magazines of today become and morning.  The newspapers The obsolete with the dawn of tomorrow's poem deals with this important fact of modern life of the city dwellers The poet seems to satirize the significant. The poet tries to affirm that something of out heaps and piles of news items that have no real or intrinsic value for man as such rather modern information becomes old and stale overnight Each morning sets the people as much for repetition of the same dull and old routine gossip The news collectors are tired down as the night approaches so they withdraw themselves their beds after they have issued last bulletins:  hastily to"After the last bulletins the windows darken.  sliding on all its pillows To the thronged Atlantis of personal sleep.
"  News reporters sink into the ocean of sleep like Atlantis(an island drowned into the sea).  Though they themselves go to sleep yet they make other people restless by their heaps of news.  People enjoy these products for the time being and then throw them away like junk. The day's litter of news in the alleys.  The newspaper litter goes on flying here and there,  rising and falling with the rise and fall of the gusts of wind Trash soars and falls with soft crash.  At last,  these are pressed and trampled under the feet of the tired patrolman and in the end these are picked up as garbage from parks of the city by the city sweepers.  Their tatters at the tired patrolman's feet.  Some of the trash finds its way out of the gutter and becomes crushed under the watch man's feet just like the snow was crushed under Napoleon's horses while he was retreating from Russia.  To the emperor's horse's heels.  There is a shift from the description of the ordinary and the mundane to something historically grand and significant.
